End 2021 With New Possibilities: A Cleaner, Greener, Healthier Tomorrow

2021 has been yet another year of uncertainty for all of us, but one thing remained constant, the enjoyment of our open spaces. The value of the outdoors is good for the body and soul! Here at EarthShare New Jersey, in spite of the year's challenges, we achieved so much in support of our open spaces, fresh air, clean water, and native wildlife.

EarthShare New Jersey has:

• Connected with hundreds through the virtual Lunch Time Bites program
• Hosted a sustainability video challenge that included 30 actionable behaviors
• Relaunched many of our beloved programs, including EarthShare Celebrates New Jersey, EarthShare NJ ROCKS, and Earth Care Day
• Restarted our outdoor volunteer programs with many of our partners
• Expanded the Responsible Tomorrows program to new audiences
• Introduced EarthShare NJ BLUES to connect our environment with a new group of music lovers

We could not have overcome the years challenges and completed so much without our supporters who believe in a cleaner, greener, healthier tomorrow for everyone across the Garden State.

We are excited to share the possibilities we are striving towards for 2022:

Stop Climate Change: Extreme weather events, hotter summers and melting ice caps are clear indicators that our climate is changing at an unprecedented rate. In 2022, EarthShare New Jersey will increase education about how to slow the change. These actions include raising awareness of climate issues, recycling more, consuming less, supporting community efforts, reducing water usage, purchasing efficient products, and eating local as well as greener. EarthShare New Jersey will shine a spotlight on these things in the year ahead.

Support Environmental Justice: Every citizen has the right to a clean, safe community with green space free of toxins, pollution, and danger. EarthShare New Jersey has established a three-year plan focused on environmental justice. We will provide resources for our non-profit members to learn more, our partners to raise awareness and our communities to identify opportunities where we can help so that everyone will have a cleaner, healthier and safer tomorrow.

Promote Clean Energy: Shopping and buying local, weatherproofing our home/vehicles, changing to efficient lightbulbs, unplugging devices not in use—these are little changes we all can make to live “cleaner”. EarthShare New Jersey will increase our efforts to bring these behaviors to eye level for everyone. We will also spotlight green energy options available to individuals, as well as community efforts to be more mindful about its energy use.
