Environmental Justice in Newark with Guest Speaker Chloe Desir
The Presentation: Environmental Justice in Newark: A History of Advocacy and Organizing. This presentation will be a dissecting of the history of ICC and the Ironbound when it comes to environmental justice as well as the current fights that frontline communities are facing. The Speaker: Chloe Desir (she/her) is a New Jersey native who ventured into environmental justice after graduating cum laude from Rowan University. Joining Ironbound Community Corporation, Chloe conducts community outreach and education on environmental justice issues such as zero waste, and creating a just transition. She organizes residents to identify problems that affect them and pressures policy makers and corporations to address and prioritize those issues focused on fighting against toxic gas polluting power plants and incinerators at the grassroots level. She has a passion for making an innovative impact in environmental regulations and policy to create change. Chloe currently serves on the New Jersey Environmental Justice Advisory Council.
